Summary: The Development Manager is responsible for day-to-day advancement of the organization’s annual fundraising goals. The Development Manager will work closely with the Chief Development Officer and CEO to identify, cultivate, and steward new avenues of revenue generation. The individual should be a motivated, driven self-starter with a proven history of development/sales success.

Compensation: based on work experience and performance history

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

Development

  • Continually prospect, identify, and initiate contact with potential donors, to include high-net worth individuals, industry, foundations, and community-based funders. Develop, manage, and regularly report progress against a fundraising plan that includes cultivation and funder relationship management strategies and campaigns.
  • Work with a dedicated development staff, providing effective mentorship, and establishing clear, accountable departmental priorities designed to achieve successful results.
  • Support the Chief Development Officer and CEO’s development related activities, and coordinate and participate in fundraising engagements with potential donors.
  • Partner with the communications team to lift stories about our work and supporters and strategically support development-related publications and other opportunities to elevate SEE’s work to supporters.
  • Work closely with the Chief Development Officer to maintain and/or create development advancement policies and procedures; ensure data collection and integrity of all donor information, gifts, pledges, and files; and ensure accurate acknowledgment of all gifts and grants. Use the existing tools or direct the creation of new tools for managing donor engagement, communications, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Work across the organization to gather data to support grant budget management and reporting. Continually develop and report revenue forecasts and prepare and monitor the departmental budget.
  • Seek regular opportunities for Board and Chief Development Officer to engage with major foundations, corporate donors, and other organizations on social media and curate up-to-date lists of key accounts.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of demonstrated development/sales success
  • Management experience preferred

Language Ability:

  • Must be a strong communicator, have excellent written, presentation, oral communications, and interpersonal skills

Math Ability:

  • Strong understanding of programmatic and organizational budgeting

Reasoning Ability

  • Must be a creative and strategic thinker with good judgment and ability to make independent decisions in a changing environment

Technology

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Wealth Engine a plus
  • Understanding of Salesforce CRM Lightning Nonprofit Success Pack or similar database
  • Understanding of Classy Fundraising Suite or similar platform

Salary Range: $75,000 – $90,000
