SEE Hosts Donor Wine Reception and Luncheon

Category:

SEE International recently hosted a special wine reception and luncheon at our Goleta headquarters, bringing together long-time supporters, friends, and staff to celebrate our shared mission of restoring sight around the world. These events provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with those whose generosity has helped make SEE’s work possible.

Guests enjoyed light refreshments and received updates on SEE’s global and local programs, including the training of future ophthalmologists, the delivery of surgical supplies to partner hospitals, and the expansion of sight-restoring care to underserved communities.

Global Partnerships in Action

During both the wine reception and luncheon, guests heard from Dr. Rajesh Saini, the medical director of Siliguri Greater Lions Eye Hospital in India.

Dr. Saini shared the remarkable impact of SEE’s partnership with his hospital, highlighting the thousands of patients who have received life-changing cataract surgeries and essential eyecare through our collaborative efforts.

His words demonstrated how SEE’s training and support build lasting capacity for care in communities across the globe.

Stories of Support

Among those in attendance were long-time supporters who have contributed to SEE’s efforts for over a decade. One donor shared that his inspiration to give began after attending a presentation by a SEE volunteer surgeon years ago:

“Even someone who can give a small amount of money can save lives,” he reflected. “There’s nothing I value more than my vision.”

Another long-time supporter recalled first discovering SEE more than ten years ago when driving past our organization’s sign on Hollister Avenue in Santa Barbara. Curious, he decided to stop in and learn more. That spontaneous visit turned into years of support and advocacy.

“To see all the work SEE does around the world from right here in Goleta, it’s unbelievable,” he shared.

He also recounted visiting a SEE-supported clinic in Peru, where he saw firsthand the difference eye surgeries can make:

“It was amazing to see the changes in people’s lives for such a small amount of money,” he said. “Being part of something that gives people back their independence, that’s what makes this so special.”

Looking Toward the Future

Reflecting on the event, Gerry Pantoja, SEE’s Vice President of Development, shared what excites him most about connecting with supporters:

“What inspires me most is getting to know our supporters and hearing their stories, their personal connections to sight, to SEE, and to the impact of vision care,” said Pantoja.

“Each conversation helps us understand what brought them here, whether it’s a family member, a friend, or their own experience with vision loss. These connections deepen our relationships and strengthen our shared mission to expand access to care both locally and globally.”

Each donor, volunteer, and partner plays an essential role in making sight possible for those who need it most. As SEE continues to expand its programs and prepare for the future, we are excited to host more events that bring together the incredible community members who help sustain our sight-restoring work.
