Abe White, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology. He earned his combined BA/MD degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine, followed by a general surgery internship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center at Mercy Hospital. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Dr. White practices in Prairie Village, Kansas, and is affiliated with several hospitals in the region, including the Kansas City VA Medical Center, where he serves as Chief of Ophthalmology, and the University of Kansas Hospital. With over a decade of clinical experience, he provides care for a wide range of conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, and other eye diseases.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. White is actively engaged in academic medicine and research. Within the University of Kansas, he collaborates with multiple departments on diverse projects spanning ophthalmology subspecialties—such as oculoplastics and pediatric ophthalmology—as well as broader health issues including domestic violence, global health, and physician burnout. Many of his projects are conducted alongside medical students and residents, offering opportunities for both scholarship and mentorship. He has also contributed as a sub-investigator on clinical trials, performing ophthalmic evaluations for patients receiving investigational therapies.

Dr. White has been a dedicated volunteer with SEE International since 2018. He contributes his time and expertise as an instructor for education courses and surgical programs around the world. He has participated in 10 programs to date, serving communities in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Guyana, and the United States.
