Professional Education, Practice, and Affiliations

Aishwarya Sriram, M.D. is a neuro-ophthalmologist and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida/Tampa General Hospital, specializing in neuro-ophthalmology and adult strabismus. She brings extensive clinical training, global health experience, and a strong commitment to advancing equity in eye care to her work.

Dr. Sriram completed her medical degree at New York Medical College, followed by an internship in preliminary medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital. She went on to complete her ophthalmology residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She received advanced subspecialty training through a Neuro-Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus Fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School, and a Global Ophthalmology Fellowship at the Moran Eye Center/University of Utah. During her global fellowship, she provided clinical care and training in hospitals across Mexico, Nepal, Ghana, and Tanzania. She has continued to promote ophthalmology education globally through in-personal and virtual didactics around the world, including India, Mexico, and Ethiopia.

In addition to her academic role, Dr. Sriram has experience in the field of medical technology. She served as a Medical Liaison for machineMD (Switzerland), where she contributed her neuro-ophthalmic expertise to the development and clinical application of neos™, a device designed to provide comprehensive and precise measurements for the neuro-ophthalmic examination. She sees significant potential for such devices to support clinicians in accurately identifying neuro-ophthalmic disease—particularly given the worldwide shortage of neuro-ophthalmologists—and to enhance access to care globally through telemedicine and international collaboration.

Dr. Sriram is also a passionate advocate for mentorship and gender equity in medicine. As part of the Women Leaders in Eye Health 2026 Women’s Circles Cohort, she will be leading a Women’s Circle in her local community, fostering connection, professional development, and empowerment among women in eye health. She attributes her own growth to strong and supportive female mentors and is committed to helping cultivate similar opportunities for the next generation of ophthalmologists.

Recognized for her leadership, compassion, and dedication to improving global eye care, Dr. Sriram continues to advance neuro-ophthalmology while championing greater access, collaboration, and inclusion within the field.
