Darren Streff serves as the Director of PazSalud in El Salvador, where he leads efforts to expand access to eyecare for economically marginalized communities. As the only PeaceHealth employee based in El Salvador, Darren coordinates local teams to provide vision screenings and cataract surgeries in partnership with the country’s public hospital, Rosales Hospital.

Service with SEE International

Darren has been a dedicated volunteer with SEE International since 2013. While surgical programs have occurred for many decades, in 2022, the partnership with PazSalud and SEE International formed the first Direct Supply Support site in El Salvador. Under his leadership, PazSalud—SEE International’s sole partner in El Salvador—conducts thousands of screenings each year and provides hundreds of free cataract surgeries to patients who otherwise would not have access to care. Global & Local Health Initiatives

Darren and his team at PazSalud are working to grow their annual impact, increasing the number of charitable cataract surgeries from 400 to 1,000. These life-changing procedures restore sight for economically marginalized Salvadorans and, with each surgery, they improve the patient’s quality of life and the wellbeing of their entire community.
