James B. Conahan, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist having earned his MD from Creighton University in 1987. With advanced training in refractive and microsurgery of the eye, he has performed tens of thousands of cataract surgeries, as well as countless laser vision correction procedures such as LASIK and PRK. Known for his patient-centered approach, Dr. Conahan emphasizes accessibility, compassionate listening, and comprehensive eye care ranging from routine exams to advanced surgical procedures.
In 2006, Dr. Conahan and his wife, Molly, founded The Mission of Healing Eyes, a nonprofit dedicated to delivering free medical and surgical eye care to patients in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, and Battambang, Cambodia. Through this work, their teams have examined over 10,000 people, distributed more than 10,000 pairs of glasses, and restored sight to countless patients.
He lives in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, with Molly and their three children.
Dr. Conahan has an extensive history partnering with SEE International since 2006. Through his service he brings free eye care to underserved communities around the world—completing 41 surgical programs and counting! Additionally, he has been a faculty member to instruct MSICS Level 1 courses. Each year, he leads programs in Mexico and he has also done programs in Cambodia and Jamaica.
