Professional Education, Practice, and Affiliations

Dr. Randall Goodman is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Shepard Eye Center in Santa Maria and SLO LASIK & Cataract in San Luis Obispo. Before joining Shepard Eye Center, Dr. Goodman served as Chief of Ophthalmology at the United States Air Force and Veterans Hospital in Las Vegas. He earned his medical degree from Loma Linda University, completed two years as an Air Force flight surgeon, and went on to ophthalmology residency training at Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center and Brooke Army Medical Center.

Dr. Goodman is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

He and his family enjoy hiking, traveling, and time spent together.

Service with SEE International

Dr. Goodman has an extensive history volunteering with SEE since joining in 2014 and as a Board Director from 2017 to present. He has donated his time and experience as an educator and surgeon for programs around the world. So far, he has participated in 13 programs, providing thousands of sight-restoring surgeries in Fiji, Mongolia, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and the United States in Santa Barbara County.

Global & Local Health Initiatives

Dr. Goodman embraces opportunities to bring vision-saving surgeries to individuals around the globe. He loves skills-transfer education and hands-on training local ophthalmologists in underserved areas.

Within the U.S., he collaborated with SEE to open the SEE Vision Care (formally known as Santa Barba Vision Care) clinic in Santa Maria and frequently serves patients from local charity clinics in Lompoc, Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo.
