According to the IAPB Vision Atlas, the crude prevalence of blindness in Thailand is approximately 0.6% (430,000), while moderate-to-severe visual impairment affects up to 3.5% (2,500,000)Â of the population. The leading causes are cataracts (66%), followed by glaucoma (10%) and age-related macular degeneration (7%). IAPB highlights that over 90% of these cases are entirely preventable or treatable with timely medical intervention.
