Blindness in Rwanda

According to IAPB Vision Atlas, 83.9% of all blindness and visual impairment in Rwanda is preventable or treatable, with cataracts being the primary cause. A national survey reports a 1.1% prevalence of blindness in adults over 50, with 33.3% of untreated cases citing difficulties reaching surgical facilities Cataracts are the leading cause, responsible for over 50% of all blindness in the country.
