SEE International Eye Expeditions (“SEE”) is a leader in providing transformative eye care and surgery around the world. Since 1974, SEE has provided over 4 million free vision screenings and over a half million sight-restoring surgeries. These services are provided free of charge to those in need and made possible through fundraising efforts by SEE.

This Privacy Statement explains how information is collected about you, how we use it, where it may be shared and what choices you have regarding our use of this information. The statement covers all contact we may have with you, including through our various websites, through email, over the phone or any other points of contact between you and SEE (“we”, “us”, or “our”).

1. Information We Collect

Personal Information You Disclose To Us

Summary: We collect personal information that you provide to us.

Contact Information: When you submit a donation to us online or over the phone, we collect your contact information, which may include your name, address, telephone number and email address. Your contact information may also be collected by various registration and sign-up forms on our site. If you request to not be contacted by SEE, we will continue to store your email to ensure no future contact is made to that address.

Donation Information: When you donate to SEE, in addition to your Contact Information, we maintain transaction history and collect payment information to process your donation. We use a third-party payment service to process your donation. If you donate in honor or in memory of someone, we may collect that person’s name, email and address if you provide it to us.

Cookies and Similar Technologies:  As is common with most websites you visit, SEE may use cookies to help us identify how our site is used and to create a better experience for all visitors. This may include the serving of advertisements to you on other websites. We do not control the privacy policies of these third-party service providers. In addition, you may be able to block the sharing of information on your browser using privacy settings or third-party plug-ins.

Direct Contact: We may use your information to contact you via email or telephone either directly or through a third-party. You may opt out of contact from us at any time by unsubscribing from our emails or letting us know your wishes by contacting us directly.

Legally Required Disclosures: As required by an enforceable legal action, we may be required to release certain information pursuant to court order or similar request.

SEE is committed to safeguarding the information you share with us. We maintain secure systems and engage with third parties that commit to the same standards of protecting your data. Our website hosting platform meets SOC 2 standards for security and our website is protected by industry standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, multiple firewalls, and malware protection. Our donation processing vendor utilizes a secure cloud architecture and world-class security measures using tokenization, AES 256-bit encryption, and key management. Additional security measures include, but are not limited to, strict internal policies to maintain the security of stored data. We continuously monitor our systems and staff use of data to take reasonable steps to maintain and secure information. However, there is no data transmission method that can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot warrant or promise that hackers, cybercriminals or the like will not be able to defeat our security procedures.

 

4. Other Notices and Disclosures

Third-Party Links: Our website provides links to third-party websites, including our own social media pages. SEE is not responsible for the privacy and security practices of these third-party sites.

Use of Our Site by Children: Our site is not targeted to children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children under this age. By using this site, you represent you are of legal age or that you are the parent or guardian of a minor and consent to use of this site.

Do Not Track Features: Many browsers offer a Do Not Track (“DNT”) feature, however as there is no recognized implementation to this technology, SEE does not currently respond to these requests.

Changes to this Privacy Policy: Any changes to this policy can be viewed on this page. The “Last Modified” date will reflect the date of the most current version.

Requesting or Deleting Your Personal Information: Subject to applicable law, you may be entitled to see and/or have removed any data we have collected. You may contact us to request additional information.
