U.S. Programs
Every day, we rely on our vision to help us navigate the world. However, many individuals unnecessarily lose their sight each year from conditions that are preventable and treatable, even here at home. The need for eye care is great – the number of people in the U.S. with vision problems is projected to double to 24 million by 2050.
Beginning with a pilot program in 2016 – a one-day comprehensive eye exam clinic in Edinburgh, Texas that screened 48 children – SEE’s U.S. Programs now care for patients throughout the country. In 2018, SEE screened 1,990 patients and performed 25 sight-restoring surgeries through these programs. This year, SEE’s U.S. Programs plans to reach over 3,900 patients in need.
