U.S. Programs

U.S. Programs

Every day, we rely on our vision to help us navigate the world. However, many individuals unnecessarily lose their sight each year from conditions that are preventable and treatable, even here at home. The need for eye care is great – the number of people in the U.S. with vision problems is projected to double to 24 million by 2050.

Beginning with a pilot program in 2016 – a one-day comprehensive eye exam clinic in Edinburgh, Texas that screened 48 children – SEE’s U.S. Programs now care for patients throughout the country. In 2018, SEE screened 1,990 patients and performed 25 sight-restoring surgeries through these programs. This year, SEE’s U.S. Programs plans to reach over 3,900 patients in need.

Where We Work

Comprehensive Eye Exam Clinics

Through short-term programs hosted at homeless shelters, Indian Reservations, and other organizations providing resources to low-income families and individuals in need of access to a comprehensive eye exam and glasses at no cost. We’re proud to work with many SEE partners and doctors who volunteer their time to these disadvantaged communities.

Comprehensive Eye Exam Clinic Partnerships:

Surgical Clinics

SEE matches low-income individuals in need of surgical care with nearby SEE partners who can provide access to care. Through short-term programs, these surgical clinics provide sight-restoring surgeries to individuals in need.

All inquiring patients for this program must apply and meet all qualifications before they are considered for surgery. Please contact us if you are in need of care and think you might be eligible for our program.

Surgical Clinic Partnerships:

VSP Global® Eyes of Hope® Program

SEE is proud to partner with VSP Global® Eyes of Hope® gift certificate program to provide no-cost access to a comprehensive eye exam and prescription glasses from a VSP network doctor for low-income adults and children in need.

Please contact us if you are in need of a comprehensive eye exam and think you might be eligible for our program.

Get Involved

To expand our U.S. Programs to underserved communities, we are looking for ophthalmologists, optometrists, space in surgical centers, and locations for comprehensive eye exams.

If you are interested in getting involved or would like more information, please contact us at eloisa@seeintl.org.

Those Who Make It Possible

Our programs could not exist without our volunteer ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other countless volunteers. As well as many organizations and corporations that supply in-kind donations, enabling patients to receive the glasses and medications they otherwise could not afford.

To help make an impact in our community, consider making a donation to U.S. Programs.
